Its Just A Cream Sweetheart

We're all frequent hand washers in our house.  When the cool weather arrives our hands get chapped.  Decided to put cream on my son's hands last evening before he went to bed.  Within seconds, the little voice went from a vociferous "NO, NO, NO!" to an appreciative "That smells good!". 

The elixir in question is Vanilla & Sweet Orange All Over Lotion by Hugo Naturals.  This stuff smells divine and is very emolient.  It is also very clean.  The similarly flavoured Body Butter is equally lovely.  

Hugo Naturals is on the shelves at Whole Foods but I'm hoping it is also available at other stores.  Several of you have written to ask where to get it and I responded with suggestions.  I have asked for availability feedback and will pass it along when I receive it.

Not Even Remotely Green

As I was hosing down my left shoe and pant leg this afternoon I remarked to myself that pooper scooper laws are indeed a fine thing.  Now if only more dog owners would obey said laws! 

Everyone Has His Limit

My 6-year-old cousin, backpack on, is walking into school the first week back.  He turns to his father and says in a world weary voice:  "I'll finish the year but I'm not coming back for grade 2".

Thanks to the same blood testing we did on my son, I've been valiantly trying to stay away from refined sugar.  Yesterday I was reminiscing about a tasty food that is very sweet.

Cosmic Comedy Hour

Our usually rainy summer has been wreaking havoc with my attempts to use my new clothesline. Yesterday’s forecast was for a rare, rain-free day.  I was jazzed and ready. 
I washed whites.

There were clouds in the sky but not a threatening one among them. I hung out my laundry.  Forty-five minutes later it rained.  A little.  My husband offered to help me bring in the laundry.  “Thanks but the rain has stopped. The sky is bright.  It will be fine”. 

Half an hour later it rained again.  Harder.  We dashed outside and rescued the laundry which was now wetter than when I hung it up – our front loader gives wicked spin cycle. 

I put the sheets in the dryer and hung the rest of the load in the house.  Everywhere.

The sun came out.  It didn’t rain again.  Until today.
